If you can't remember why Ginko is good you probably need some!

Ginkgo Biloba, also known as the Maidenhair Tree, is a unique species of tree with no close living relatives

Ginkgo has long been cultivated in China; some planted trees at temples are believed to be over 1,500 years old. Because of its status in Buddhism and Confucianism, the Ginkgo is also widely planted in Korea and parts of Japan; in both areas, some naturalization has occurred, with Ginkgos seeding into natural forests.

The nut-like seeds are particularly esteemed in Asia, and are a traditional Chinese food. Ginkgo nuts are used in congee, and are often served at special occasions such as weddings and the Chinese New Year (as part of the vegetarian dish called Buddha's delight). In Chinese culture, they are believed to have health benefits; some also consider them to have aphrodisiac qualities. Japanese cooks add Ginkgo seeds (called ginnan) to dishes such as chawanmushi, and cooked seeds are often eaten along with other dishes.

Medicinal uses

Extracts of Ginkgo leaves contain flavonoid glycosides and terpenoids (ginkgolidesbilobalides) and have been used pharmaceutically. Ginkgo supplements are usually taken in the range of 40–200 mg per day. Recent clinical trials have thrown some doubt on earlier findings that Ginkgo was effective in treating dementia or preventing the onset of Alzheimer's Disease in normal people.[30][31]

In memory enhancement

Ginkgo is believed to have nootropic properties, and is mainly used as memory[32] and concentration enhancer, and anti-vertigo agent.
According to some studies, Ginkgo can significantly improve attention in healthy individuals.[35][36] In one such study, the effect was almost immediate and reaches its peak in 2.5 hours after the intake.[37]

In dementia

Ginkgo has been proposed as a treatment for Alzheimer's disease on the basis of positive preclinical results in mice.[38]

In other symptoms

Out of the many conflicting research results, Ginkgo extract may have three effects on the human body: improvement in blood flow (including microcirculation in small capillaries) to most tissues and organs; protection against oxidative cell damage from free radicals; and blockage of many of the effects of platelet-activating factor (platelet aggregation, blood clotting)[40] that have been related to the development of a number of cardiovascular, renal, respiratory and central nervous system disorders. Ginkgo can be used for intermittent claudication.
Some studies suggest a link between ginkgo and the easing of the symptoms of tinnitus.[41]
Preliminary studies suggest that Ginkgo may be of benefit in multiple sclerosis, showing modest improvements in cognition[42] and fatigue[42] without increasing rates of serious adverse events in this population.
A study conducted in 2003 by the Department of Dermatology, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh, India concluded that Ginkgo is an effective treatment for arresting the development of vitiligo.[43]

A pretty cool plant and probably one missing from the average diet. Get your FIX today?

Green Tea Antixodants Reduces Risk of Lung Cancer

by MATTHEW BURGESS on MARCH 26, 2010
States all over the country are cracking down on smoking. A huge number of private establishments and public places are now thankfully smoke-free zones, which is great news for everyone concerned about the hazards of second-hand smoke. However, there’s still a risk of lung cancer due to carcinogens in the air, whether or not you’ve got a smoking habit.
One way to mitigate this risk? Drinking green tea.
You probably already know that green tea is packed full of the cancer-busting antioxidant EGCG. Recent studies in China and Arizona show that drinking green tea can prove effective in reducing the risk of lung cancer, especially if you don’t smoke.
A study conducted at Chung Shan Medical University showed that individuals who do not drink green tea are 5 times more likely to develop lung cancer than individuals who do imbibe the super-healthy drink. Researchers came to the conclusion that one reason lung cancer rates are low in Japan is due to the popularity of green tea.
Another study done by researchers at the University of Arizona also found that green tea reduced the appearance of urinary 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine–a hallmark of DNA damage–in heavy smokers by 25%. Green tea was also shown to assist the liver in detoxifying the carcinogens caused by cigarette smoke.
Despite all this great news, the fact remains: If you’re a smoker, the absolute best thing you can do for your health is to quit. Now. Replace your daily smoke break with a tea break instead. Stop putting poison into your body and start healing it with the power of green tea.

How can I use social media to leverage my efforts and build a network?

We get asked all the time: What should I do? Where should I start? Should I do it or not? What I hope to do over the course of the next few blog entries is give you a systematic step by step approach to getting started. I'll pass on some of the advice that I've received, some best practices and some thoughts from others that I hope helps.

Why would I start? Good question. A lot worry about privacy concerns and sometimes with good cause. My view, don't post anything you want to keep private. Once out there, it's out there.

Social media in all it's various forms is simply a new way of communicating and communicating is what we must do to build a network.

It is the next step. Just as we've seen the progression from cave paintings through hieroglyphics, the written word, printing books, the phone, the fax, and email.
You can adopt it, learn how to use it, or not. The choice is yours.

Of course real one to one interaction is the ultimate in communication but social media allows you to communicate efficiently with whole communities. Who doesn't want that? Social media seems to be able to break through the email clutter and acts as a filter that allows you to reach those with a similar interest.

That's why you should use it.

So just start!
Go to www.facebook.com and twitter.com and set up your profile.
Keep it simple.

Facebook
Put up a happy professional photo of yourself on Facebook set up your security settings and the profile info that you want to share.

If you are doing this to build a network marketing business become a fan of the corporate page, in our case natureline, and friend request other members of the community, such as myself. List whatever replicated website you choose such as yourusername.fixteas.com. Or enviromovement.com or naturelinesolutions.com.

As corporate or members of the natureline community, your friends, post relevant content to your "wall" comment positively and add to the conversation and "like" postings. This adds to your profile within the community and shares it with your own overlapping community.

Generally try to avoid political or religious commentary as it can be divisive and seldom works for your business building purpose. Don't fill the walls of others with incessant game requests such as "mafia wars". You can block all that content by simply deleting the post and blocking future content by the way.

If you want a Facebook page to share family photos, play games, and share your political or religious beliefs by all means set up another profile.

Now, start finding friends. This can be a fun process. Just in the same way that you did with our business plan's memory jogger section. Who did you go to school with? Who do you email? Facebook has a great wizard that can do that for you. Who did you work with? Who'd you play sports with...? More on this later.

Twitter
Set up your account at twitter.com maybe choose your natureline username, if it's available, or something relevant to your goals.
Your aim on twitter is to build a following with whom you can share info 140 characters at a time. People that like your content share it with their communities and so on so the reach of your content can be very wide especially if it piques interest.
As near as I can understand it Twitter is almost like a real time search engine. There is a ton of rubbish out there but if your content speaks to people it gets picked up on.

Search for friends already on twitter, invite friends from Facebook to follow you. Search for me @fixteas and follow me.
Retweet content that I post to your followers. I'll show you how that works later.

To build your database of followers follow those with large numbers of followers and who follow lots of people. Follow back those that follow you. Start by following some of those that follow me and when they follow you see who they are following follow them and see if they follow you back.

You can only follow so many people more than follow you so you need to periodically purge out those who you follow who don't return the favor. I use a website called friendorfollow.com that generates a list of who isn't following me and then unfollow them to open up room to follow more people. More on this later... I just read some of that back and it sounds like crazy gibberish, and it is, but there we go!

Once you are set up on Facebook and twitter update your email signature to send people to your streams on a consistent basis.

The key with these social media sites is to use them. Post consistently; add commentary that adds value and contributes positively to the community. Comment on what others are saying positively and share content across communities and platforms.

Whoa, that was supposed to be a brief overview! But I hope it encourages you to START! Do it now! Set up your profiles and friend and follow me; I'll friend and follow you right back.

Share this blog, comment on it, and next time I'll show some other cool tools that I've been introduced to that can help you as you build your social media platform and network.

If you are eating grapes, do you eat the seeds? Should you be?

Grape seed extracts are derivatives from whole grape seeds that have a great concentration of vitamin E, flavonoids, linoleic acid, and OPCs. Typically extracting grape seed constituents has been for chemicals known as polyphenols, including oligomeric proanthocyanidins recognized as antioxidants.

Potential anti-disease effects

Human case reports and results from laboratory and animal studies show that grape seed extract may be useful to treat heart diseases such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol.[1] By limiting lipid oxidation, phenolics in grape seeds may reduce risk of heart disease, such as by inhibiting platelet aggregation and reducing inflammation.[2] While such studies are promising, more research including long-term studies in humans is needed to confirm initial findings.

A polyphenol contained in grape seeds is resveratrol which may interfere with cancer cell growth and proliferation, as well as induceapoptosis, among a variety of potential chemopreventive effects.[3][4]

Grape seed components may also be active against HIV by inhibiting virus expression and replication.[5]

Preliminary research shows that grape seed extract may have other possible anti-disease properties, such as in laboratory models of

§                     wound healing—grape seed proanthocyanidins induced vascular endothelial growth factor and accelerated healing of injured skin in mice.[6]

§                     tooth decay --seed phenolics may inhibit oral sugar metabolism and retard growth of certain bacteria causing dental caries.[7]

§                     osteoporosis -- grape seed extracts enhanced bone density and strength in experimental animals.[8]

§                     skin cancer -- grape seed proanthocyanidins decreased tumor numbers and reduced the malignancy of papillomas.[9]

§                     ultraviolet damage to skin—dietary proanthocyanidins may protect against carcinogenesis and provide supplementation for sunscreenprotection.[10]

There is good evidence that grape seed extract can help treat chronic venous insufficiency and edema.[11]

Currently, there are four clinical trials underway to assess the effect of grape seed extracts on human breast cancer, blood estrogen levels in postmenopausal women, and coronary artery disease.[12]

Ridiculously simple ways to Generate Way More Leads for your FIX business

This was very well received so I'm sending it out again in case you missed it

Idea #1: Go to a college in your area and take classes in sales.  Sales is the number one profession around, and you’ll be in a class with lots of people who are already looking to improve their skillset, and perhaps even looking for an opportunity.

Idea #2: Go get a spiral notebook and keep it in your car.  You’ll always be on the lookout for people to talk to and you’ll want to be able to keep track of them.  Pay attention to real estate signs, shopping car advertisements, billboards, etc.

Idea #3: Email signatures and email addresses.  When you send out an email, make sure it has a really neat signature file with all the ways to get a hold of you. Also make sure that your email address is professional.  Soccermom62729@hotmail..com wouldn’t be a good business address.  Casey@theidealnetworker.com, however, is an “ideal” (pun intended) site address.  People will plug in your domain name to find out what’s there.

Idea #4: Call your cell phone and listen to the message you’re leaving when other people are calling you.  If you change your voicemail to something spectacular, you’ll see amazing results.  I can tell you that having called Casey’s cell phone personally, it’s SO true.  His VM message makes me want to be his best friend!  And yes, I copy-catted him on that one at the advice of one of MY favorite leaders, Todd Falcone.

Idea #5: BLOGGING!  Bloggers that blog consistently, 97% of them have generated at least one paying client over the course of a year.  If you have a blog, USE IT!  If you don’t, GET ONE!  If you’re not a writer, go watch some videos or google some articles on how to be a great blogger.

Idea #6: Comment on other people’s blogs!  Well crafted comments will generate clicks!  (Casey, I’m expecting to see a comment on this blog!)  Casey himself comments on at least 3 different blogs a day.  Find people that you want in your business and start commenting on their blog.

Idea #7: Social media.  If you’re not using social media, figure out how to plug in!  FaceBook, Twitter, etc.  ‘Nuff said.

Idea #8: Airplanes.  Book yourself on 2 or 3 legs for whatever trip you’re going on.  You’ll always have 2 or 3 prospects on each side of you, and they’re a captive audience!  Stick your brochures or pamphlets in the seatback in front of you for the next passengers!  Pull down the tray tables and tape your flier to it, then put it back up!

Idea #9: Be different.  Example:  Todd Falcone always wears a shirt from a very specific designer.  Joe, another networker, always wears a really cool hat and funky glasses.  Casey always wears black converse.  My own trademark is zebra print with turquoise accents.

Idea #10: Quote action.  Sign up to give away quote actions.  It’s a daily business quote and an action item.  It’s $30 a month for 1000 people to receive it each month.  It delivers your blog, website and phone number to every subscriber every day.  You’re also providing people with good value and good content.

Idea #11: Make it a lifestyle decision to only buy products or services from direct sellers (network marketers).  I buy my nutrition products from a network marketer, my laundry soap from a network marketer, my candles, my toilet paper (when I’m not stealing it from my mom, who always seems to have an abundance!) and a lot more.

Idea #12: Leave testimonials for people, especially when someone asks for them.  Video testimonials are awesome, which reminds me, I need to do one for Casey!  Look for that soon!  A giant review website called Yelp is a great place to go to leave reviews.  You can generate tons of leads from reviewing anything and everything (and everyone).

Idea #13: At events, have people take out their cell phones and ask, “who are the people you know that you would call from jail, help change your flat tire, or invite to your funeral?”  Those are your close friends and are the ones you need to have in your closest network!

Idea #14: Take your checkbook out and look at the people you pay on a monthly basis.  Those people deserve to know what you do.  It’s important that those people (like your insurance agent) is a part of your team.  If they know what kind of people you’re looking for, they’re a great lead generator for you.  You can also provide leads for them!  If they indicate that they want to play ball with you, you don’t have to fire them!

Idea #15: Gift baskets.  Create gift baskets and donate them to charities, silent auctions, raffles…find out who ends up with your basket, then follow up with that person.  Example, Deanna does a gift basket for Arbonne and never follows up, so the person who got those products has no way of ordering from her, even though she LOVES the products.  Make sure your contact info is in the gift basket!

Idea#16: Did you know that Hebalife is a billion dollar company?  They gave all their reps green buttons that said “lose weight, ask me how”.  Wow that brings back memories (Herbalife was the first company I was ever in).  Get something made up for your business!  Pens, buttons, calendars, whatever!  “Need more referrals?  Ask me how!”  Casey suggests finding a charity that makes things like this, that way you’re helping out and giving back at the same time.  :)

Idea#17: Join toastmasters!  You’ll be practicing speeches frequently, learning how to be a great public speaker, generating leads, etc.  Give your presentations as though you’re giving them to a roomful of prospects.

Idea #18: Have a direct sales party at your home at least once a quarter.  Pampered Chef, Tupperware, PartyLite, etc.  Support your fellow network marketers!  They know a LOT of people that you don’t know, and you just might find some new favorite products.  You may also learn some great new ways of presenting!  One of my own personal favorite presentations was from a SaladMaster rep named Cristina Stratos-Pigeon.  Her presentation was full of humor and she really knew her stuff.  I learned from her to incorporate humor into my communication, and it’s been well received.

Idea #19: Go to garage sales and thrift stores and buy up every book you can find that has to do with anything business-minded people would read.  Get a stamp or label that says “For the best home based business…”, then donate that book to the local library.  That book will be read over and over again and you’ll get exposure!

Idea #20: Partner with car sales people!  People go looking at cars all the time but have no money.  If they tell the salesperson that they have no money, have the salesperson say, “Hey, I know someone that can help with that…” and make a deal to give them something in return.

Idea #21: Sponsor a sports team!  Your name will be on a lot of shirts, parents will want to know what you do and you’ll generate leads!

Casey has a full 147 of these ideas, so be sure to visit his website and listen to this recorded call and check out his products.  It’s well worth your time! http://www.caseyeberhart.com

That’s it for now…see you soon!

Remember…what you send out, you’ll get back!
